Melissa Ruminski, the editor of the National Safety Council’s “Safety & Health” magazine, asked me in June of 2013 if I wanted to write a column for the magazine that would inspire safety and health professionals. I didn’t have to think about it. You don’t say no to that kind of offer!
I asked her what she wanted me to write about. She said, “whatever you want.” Now the offer was as sweet as could be. Over four years and 57 installments later I’m still flabbergasted by the privilege. Some months it’s a bit tough to come up with a new topic because I’ve written so many articles but as long as I keep my mind open to what I read and experience I’ve been able to find a subject that is fresh.
